No tennis under the rain

Sunday, May 29th, 2005

The rain poured down hard last night. No problem, at least the air would be colder. But no, it caused a brownout in our area. I was disappointed since i was glued on the TV set watching Maria Sharapova play in the 3rd round of the French Open. And i was also eager to watch later matches.

Yes, i’ve been sleeping late this whole week because of tennis matches on TV. I’m a tennis addict, except that i didn’t really get to try tennis at a young age, and way back college i would try to apply for three units of basic tennis, only to discover that about 200 have also applied and we’re all lining up since the slots were almost filled up. i am planning to take up lessons now that i’m working but i simply couldn’t at this point because of time restraint and the fact that i don’t usually continue a physical activity once i’ve started it, like exercising for five minutes every morning or joining my bosses and their pals hike a mountain somewhere in Luzon. but God knows it’s always one of my plans year in and year out.

So i was just sitting in our sala, muttering in the dark when i decided to just eat my way into the night (yes, eating is my biggest passion) and munch whatever food left in our kitchen. then after an hour of rest and texting on the side, i decided to hit the sack at 10:30.

But i began to realize i was happier because at least i got to sleep at least two hours earlier and for the first time since February, my sister and I’s bedroom was cooler. (yes, i share a room with my sister)

The following morning i surprised myself by waking up at 6:30, was happy the power’s back and immediately opened the TV set, switched to CNN, lucky it’s tuned on World Sports, and was happier to know the Russians are still in.

until an hour later, i got into an argument with my father. but that’s a different story…

searching for originals

oo nga pala, this thing has been going on in my head for weeks now. what’s with all the remakes? i mean, kabilaan na lang may maririnig kang revival ng 80’s or early 90s na local song or foreign na kanta. akala ko pa naman, OPM itself would have a "revival" with Kitchie Nadal and the up-and-coming bands with their own brands of music.

remember the mid-1990s? mga high school studes pa tayo nun (at least yung mga ka-batch ko), when the Eraserheads was on top of the local music world, tapos may Yano pa, and all those bands…ngayon ko lang sobrang naaapreciate yung time na yun when alternative music became mainstream.

it went on nung nag-college na tayo, mga gigs ng mga independent bands sa Sunken pag UP Fair or just about any concert sa anumang sulok ng Peyups. was and still is a big fan of Cynthia Alexander…

…but now…

…ok maganda rendition ni Erik Santos ng "I’ll Never Go", pero is that it? para tuloy natutuwa ako sa kanta ni Rachel Ann Go na "From the Start" kasi at least orig composition ni Vehnee Saturno. sensya na kung nagiging jologs na ko, but the thing is, this trend must stop, it’s not helping OPM at all. it’s like yung trend ng mga non-singers na nagkaka-album (i.e Juday, Hunks) and mga naughty novelty songs.

buti na lang andyan si Kitchie. pero favorite song ko ngayon "Three Squeezes" ni Pido.

what can i say more?

ok, grabe na, ayoko sana ito gawin dahil parang bandwagon thing na, pero well my friends have been doing this, so it’s not really wrong to do the same.

my thing with blogging is that it has never occurred to me to put my thoughts online for everyone to see. i mean, blogging’s been going on for years now, but i’ve never given any interest to it…until now.

and yes, mejo boring na rin kasi frendster, there has to be something relatively new to do, while visiting your site and still searching for a few friends na na-left out mo or hindi mo pa naiinvite.

there, my first post. any comments?
